I would highly recommend this book for anyone, particularly college students, who is interested in learning about Federal law enforcement. As a current college student (pursuing my Master's Degree), this book has opened my eyes to the vast opportunities available within law enforcement. If it weren't for this book, I wouldn't have been confident in pursuing a position as a Special Agent within Federal law enforcement, specifically, the Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General (DOJ-OIG). For the simple fact that, I was unaware of this sort of position's existence and the necessary requirements to become an agent for the OIG. Most people, particularly criminal justice students such as myself, are solely aware of Federal law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, or DEA. But this book expands on the type of Federal law enforcement positions that are frequently outside the public eye.Mr. Ali applies his personal experiences as a U.S. Probation Officer and interactions with agents from these Federal agencies to inform novice applicants about the work environment; employee satisfaction; employee compensation; and potential to grow within a Federal agency. It's a quick, interesting, and straightforward read to become a Special Agent for a Federal agency and educates reads on the Federal system itself. Whenever I speak to current college students interested in Federal law enforcement, I highly recommend them to purchase this book because of its' conciseness and explanatory nature.
